For the city of Xian, I helped design and produce content for a 3D video mapping projection based on the novel ‘Journey to the West’, to be projected on the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. ‘Journey to the West’ is based on one of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature. The novel is a fictionalized account of the legendary pilgrimage to India of a Buddhist monk who eventually returned and brought back and introduced Buddhism to China.
For this production I traveled to Bejing where we did a film shoot in a huge chromakey studio, and used the footage as a basis for the twenty minutes of animated storytelling.
